Went for a field trip to Singapore Art Museum last week with my classmates. It was an enjoyable experience and really fun! Not to mention I got free stickers too hehe They had various artworks, from paintings to installations to interactive art and videos. I was just having fun, and taking it easy so I didn't pay much attention to the theme, or meanings of the artworks for that matter. Though, they all revolve around time, and what will happen if the world changed. So it was a little futuristic and rather abstract but beautiful at the same time.
I'm amazed at how simple the video works are, and they are all so captivating. The story told through these simple, stagnant shots, are so much more clearer and enchanting than anything I have done.. It made me wonder what I am not doing right, or what I have been missing out while in the midst of learning. The artists used a lot of wide shots, showing the space occupied and the environment. If not (take the short film "End of the world" for example) they used a lot of close up shots, but the definition of the actress was remarkable. It makes you wonder what she is doing, and the curiosity arouses my anticipation constantly. It was an amazing short film. I really like it a lot. It kind of also made me wonder what I should do to achieve such results.. To constantly keep the viewer engaged and anticipate what is going to happen. I suppose background music plays a big part as well, in creating the suspenseful atmosphere so you'll be engaged.
I always say I have so much more to learn.. Yet now I'm wonder if I am learning the right things, or learning correctly... Grrr..
Here lies all of my works, ranging from photographs to videos.
