After almost 2 month of "buzziness" and school work, I'm finally able to upload New Year's day vacation to Bangkok!
After much postpone I finally get to look at the exhibition at the Art Science museum! The little black jacket. And I am really amazed of the works by Karl Lagerfeld. Took a few pics of the works that interests me and they are really nice references for me to learn a bit more about portraits. I really enjoyed my stay there. It was just. Awesome.
Looking closely at all the portraits I noticed that all subjects are wearing the same jacket. And it finally occur to me why the exhibition is named so. XD The coolness of this exhibition just went one level higher!
And there was a workshop outside! It was making cyanotypes christmas ornaments and writing your wishes on it! Learned something new today :D Well.. even though Christmas is over, I'm still in the Christmas mood hahhaha oh well.
There comes a time where you live old enough to think "It's been awhile since I went to the bird park/zoo/any local attractions. It's time to visit it again to relive my childhood experience!"
AND YES, I WENT TO THE BIRD PARK AFTER MORE THAN 5 YEARS! And hell it changed a lot, really different from what I remember as a kid when I visited during primary school. I had a good time though, except my mom didn't know it closes at 6pm.... And we got there around late 3pm. 2 hours plus is far from enough to look around ):
Yet we managed to explore 3/4 of the place, which is not too bad. Wished we got there earlier though. Anyway, I had a lot of failed shots, but throughout the day, I kinda got a hang of it. And I rarely used my 35mm hahaha Lucky I heed the advice and got my zoom lens along XD
Feeding time in the Antarctic.
These birds are so cool, I got inches up close to them and they won't fly away :D
That's it folks! And Merry Christmas' eve!
Over this weekend, I have the privilege to stay in the MBS hotel with my sis, aunt and uncle. It was really enjoyable, and I get to swim in the "edgeless" swimming pool MBS is well known for. (: And I like the interior of the room we were given. Spacious, cosy and relaxing. It was very comfortable. Though, I didn't take much of the interior because I don't really know how. So I just focused more on certain details.
After we checked in, we went for lunch! At TWG! Land of where my favourite macarons lies XD And damn those scrambled eggs are so good. Actually, everything there is so good.
And we had TCC for dinner.
Later on in the night, all my relatives and cousins came over for a party night. It was pretty cool, though I wanted to go down and enjoy live music really badly.. But I dropped my phone in my uncle's car... I did went down for awhile later on, just roaming around the vicinity, despite being really tempted to go further but I didn't have my phone.. ): And these are what I took.
Day 2, and we have scrumptious bunch buffet! Yum yum.
And there was a christmas carol! XD
And to end the day, some public jazz performance (Y)
Lastly! Christmas is nearing so so much! I can't wait for it ^^ I'm all in the mood already hehehe Merry Christmas all!
It's the festive month again, with lots of joy and fun, snow and spongebob. Went to Changi T3 (again) with my family, and this time, along with my relatives. They came over for a day, so why not show them around the nice christmas atmosphere?
Was experimenting with the aperture.
Anyway, hope everyone is having a good time this month. Merry christmas. (:
Anime Festival Asia 2013 in Suntec City. Went there on last sunday. It was okay I guess, then again this was my first trip in years so. I wouldn't even consider my first visit one actually hahaha And.. It was very stressful to be there because of the crowd.. Only managed to get some nice shots too
Last weekend, it was Uncle Bernard's birthday. My aunt and him brought me and sissy to an awesome buffet for lunch at Changi airport :D I SPAMED CRAYFISH OF COURSE AND THE HONEYDEW SAGO WAS YUMMY. There was this citrus dessert which was just MMMMMM. But no pics of it haha And that day was my first time taking pictures of fireworks as well. Since I am finally (pretty) free from school work, it's updating time!
So I was taking pics of the chef, asked first of course. And after I'm done, he asked if I'll put it on fb or sth hahahaha Hmm wonder what will happen if I say I'm from somewhere legit next time XD HAHA
Let me introduce to you what I saw that night. So.. to begin with, these things were god damn cranes. Like cranes you'll see on CONSTRUCTION SITES. But they are modified to look like mechanical cranes (pun much haha). Point is, it looked freaking scary and creepy. Why? WELL BECAUSE IT LOOKED AS IF THE CRANES ARE GONNA PICK THE PEOPLE UP AND SQUISH THEM ANYTIME LIKE SOME APOCALYPTIC CRISIS. But towards the ending, the show wasn't as apocalyptic as it is. I supposed that space used to be where songs of the sea were. Oh well.
Now... Fireworks! I shall show the nicer ones first hahaha
Went for a field trip to Singapore Art Museum last week with my classmates. It was an enjoyable experience and really fun! Not to mention I got free stickers too hehe They had various artworks, from paintings to installations to interactive art and videos. I was just having fun, and taking it easy so I didn't pay much attention to the theme, or meanings of the artworks for that matter. Though, they all revolve around time, and what will happen if the world changed. So it was a little futuristic and rather abstract but beautiful at the same time.
I'm amazed at how simple the video works are, and they are all so captivating. The story told through these simple, stagnant shots, are so much more clearer and enchanting than anything I have done.. It made me wonder what I am not doing right, or what I have been missing out while in the midst of learning. The artists used a lot of wide shots, showing the space occupied and the environment. If not (take the short film "End of the world" for example) they used a lot of close up shots, but the definition of the actress was remarkable. It makes you wonder what she is doing, and the curiosity arouses my anticipation constantly. It was an amazing short film. I really like it a lot. It kind of also made me wonder what I should do to achieve such results.. To constantly keep the viewer engaged and anticipate what is going to happen. I suppose background music plays a big part as well, in creating the suspenseful atmosphere so you'll be engaged.
I always say I have so much more to learn.. Yet now I'm wonder if I am learning the right things, or learning correctly... Grrr..
A real time soccer match, gave me a chance to see a bit of the night life.
1.30am into the early morning, faint flirtatious laughter of slightly drunk girls echoed through the empty streets and across the silent river. I stood by the bridge just outside the restaurant of riverview hotel. Street lights rippled on the waters creating a double image, as I took pictures of the place. It's been awhile.. Since I had alone time like this. The calmness and the opportunity to scan around taking in every bit I see with me. I miss moments like these, too little time perhaps. The one point lighting cast upon the lounge took me away. It felt like a dramatic movie scene.. Godfather style, it's a shame I can't capture the essence of it. One day though, I will. And as I sat here, writing, frustrated Liverpool fans jeered and shouted as the game wasn't going well. Anger filled the air as injustice bestow upon the players with a foul rather than a goal, and other unfair judgments more to come. Meanwhile I stayed indifferent and slightly hungry as I haven't ate dinner. (I know right)
More frustrations tensed the air as the referee became seemingly biased towards the opponent's team (perhaps because they're home). The night ended with a disappointing result of 0-2 of Liverpool and the opponent (I dunno who). 3.30am, and the streets are cleared, the happy people left, probably to club. Not to mention I could hear the constant bass beating in the distance. The clubs were definitely nearby, though I won't imagine myself going to one, unless I want my ears to bleed. Feeling so sleepy now, but I am pretty satisfied with the pictures I took.
Went back to Johor Bahru last night to visit my grandma (: And I took the opportunity to try taking more pictures. Glad to say I might have grasped the concept of contrast in B&W photos. ^^ Yay! Improvement hahaha
Here lies all of my works, ranging from photographs to videos.
