Firstly, this post is waaaaaay overdue. I actually got my brushes in November last year, but I kept pushing off writing about it. Partly because I don’t really know what to talk about, then again it’s no excuse to be procrastinating hah.
Anywayyyyy. So I bought a set of brushes online when there was a sale going on (sorry I forgot what website). The brand is Zoreya and the brushes were made from synthetic fibres. The set I got was around $15 for 10 different brushes, which to me was a really good deal ($1.5 for each brush whaaaaa). I also bought a silicon brush cleaning pad as I’ve been looking for one; It was about $2.
I've been wanting to get more makeup brushes as I found myself needing more than one fluffy brush to do my eyes. I also have been wanting to try using a fan brush with my highlighter like most makeup artists do on videos haha Nothing says fancy the way that fan brush does you know what I mean hahahaha And this set I saw online had all the types of brushes I'm looking for, not to mention - again - at really affordable prices. Most of the reviews about the brushes are positive too so I decided to give it a shot. The set comes in the following, together with a pouch to keep them all inside:
Now, I don’t know if I got the proper terms for each brush right but at least I know what each can be used for :p
So far I’ve used everything except the foundation, mascara & lip liner brushes. Because I don't use foundation and I haven't found a need to use the mascara wand & lip liner yet. (Did I mention before I'm not a big fan of lip liners too)
The brushes are really soft and they work well most of the time. Sometimes the brushes have trouble picking product that I believe is cream based. The fan brush for example, usually have a tough time picking up Colorpop's highlighter (it is a powder & cream hybrid), and I’ll need to use a little force. There are times where I got so annoyed and switched to a contour brush. If I ever get a powder highlighter in the future, I will test this out again.
I’m still glad to have these brushes. I can swtich between dark & light shades very easily and blending is so much more convenient now. Can't complain about that~
The silicon pad is rather straightforward. It basically helps to remove product in your brushes or sponge easily when cleaning. Previously I wash my brushes & sponge by moving them in a circular motion on my palm. I mean it works, but I always felt that a little scrub action would ease my mind about getting out the more stubborn products in my tools. It's also $2 so why not haha
The different textures on the mat helps for cleaning different sizes - the closely packed one for smaller brushes and bigger spread out ones for bigger brushes.
I have used it twice so far. I haven't been putting on make up a lot recently so I didn't need to clean my brushes so often. I find using the silicone pad more convenient for cleaning, even though it adds an extra step of washing it after. The textures really help scrub out the stuffs and the foam from the soap makes cleaning a little more fun haha
In general these 2 items were a pretty good buy for me. They definitely improved my routine. Dare I say using the brushes made my make up look more polished too xD
