AW YIS. IT'S FINALLY HERE!
It came in the mailbox today! I was expecting a much smaller parcel though haha Because there's only one lipstick inside :3
So rewind back to about 3 weeks ago: I saw Jeffree Star is restocking some shades on Instagram, and unicorn blood was one of it. It's the colour that I wanna get first if I'm ever gonna try his products. Long story short, it's my first time waiting for about 1 hour before the restock and then rushing to buy it before it runs out XD I was so nerve stricken because I don't wanna be disappointed, and fyi I was using the KL hotel's sort of laggy wifi too. To demonstrate the scale of popularity his products are, just 10 minutes after the restock, the shade Gemini was already sold out. It's crazy but exciting. Surprisingly Unicorn Blood did not run out as fast. So I kinda panicked for nothing XD
Fast forward to now: I thought they would send the parcel in person but here it is! Now, let's look at what we have!
When I opened it, there's a pink burrito that's wrapped nicely and a JS sticker sealing it ^_^ There's also a skin frost series promo flyer inside (Paper is good quality too my goodness), and my order receipt. At this point I'm already pretty impressed with the presentation. He really does takes his products seriously. Everything is presented with good quality materials and good looking design.
The pink burrito is wrapped with pink tissue paper and a pink bubblewrap. I love the details he puts in, to have pink bubblewrap? That's really well thought out for me! The lipstick box is also pink, and sealed with a sticker that has the name of the shade on it.
When I opened it, the lipstick packaging looks gorgeous. I love how transparent the plastic is, almost looking like glass, and it looks so clean and neat! When I opened it, the wand is a transparent plastic too and it looks soooo goooooood. It did look slightly bigger than I expected, because in videos they always look so small. I tried the shade on my hand first.
The consistency of the lipstick is more watery than I expect, but in a good way because it helps with spreading. I can't really think of an example similar the consistency though. But it's less watery than water itself, but not as viscous as honey. Very pigmented. Oh and it really smells like root beer. WAT.
It takes awhile to dry completely, but it looks really good. I tried it on my lips and damn girl. I love it already *-* I have never used a wand applicator before, so I messed up the application on my lips. The feeling of the product on my lips is great. I do not feel like it's drying out my skin at all but instead feels moisturising. As it's very pigmented, one swipe is enough to cover my lips with the beautiful colour. When it's dried, it feels a tad bit sticky, especially when you purse your lips, but I don't mind. The fact that the product doesn't make me feel that my lips are dry outweighs it. After awhile, it felt like I don't have anything on my lips too. I tried licking my lips and the colour didn't come off either.
I would say the colour suits me ^_^ But my new hair colour is fucking it up T_T I'll need to experiment a bit to find a way to make light brown hair suit dark lips.
I removed the lipstick with SkinFood's Rice brightening Facial Cleansing Tissue. It's one of the free gifts I received from my SkinFood spree in KL. I am pleasantly surprised by these wipes because it removes the product very easily, and there is no oiliness at all as compared to Biore's wipes! I might just convert to SkinFood entirely one day. Thumbs up for the wipes ^_^
I finally understand why everyone wants Jeffree Star's Cosmetics. He delivers. I honestly feel that it is worth the money and I should have tried it earlier! My Urban Decay Matt lipstick, Blackmail, is $33 and Unicorn Blood is just $40 including shipping fee, after conversion. And easily, for me, Unicorn Blood > Blackmail. That $7 is worth it man.
Trivial: The second time I applied, I used Banila Co.'s Clean it Zero to remove make up. The shade spreads when I was cleaning and my mouth looked bloody. Now I know why it's called unicorn blood.
Just an overview comparison for fun. and fyi?
