I was experimenting with make up last night and I’m loving usig this method! Even though this method have been done before by many people, this is my first time trying it. Am late for the party, but I’m part of the squad now(kinda) hehehe
So! The method I was trying out is to use liquid lipstick as an eyeliner. I’ve known since I got Jeffree Star that his Velour Liquid Lipsticks are safe for the eye area, hence it is also suitable to be used as an eyeliner. I never took an interest to try it until now. When recently I was trying to find another way to use away dirty money as I’m finding it hard to wear it out. Since I’m working now, I don’t want to wear wacky colours to draw attention to myself either, so it’s not suitable for faily wear.
At the same time, I don’t really know how to pull off the colour, it’s looking weirder on me the more I wear it): I really love the shade, but I guess it’s not for everyone..
What I did first was to apply a generous amount of liquid lipstick on the back of my hand. Then using my free ColourPop eyeliner brush (I got this when I bought my eyeshadows during my mini spree at the colourpop sale) I pack as much product I can into the brush and apply a winged liner. I wasn’t sure if it’ll turn out okay but I’m not going out after this so I’M NOT AFRAID OF ANY FAILS. NOBODY WILL SEE MEH XD
It was relatively easy to apply the winged liner. I really love how it look as it didn’t make my eyes look smaller. Probably because the shade is light. I had some more product left and I applied them on my lower lashes. From the outer corner, I line my lids 3/4 in. It looks really cute ^_^ I like it, and my eyes looks bigger it’s so weird.
I wanted to see if applying mascara would help too. You can see the difference in the pics above. It's really cool to see how much difference mascara makes. I really like REVLON's Dramatic Definition, because it doesn't clump and it makes your lashes looks really natural. It extends it slightly too and if you're the kind who likes a natural look, you don't even need to wear falsies with this mascara.
I had a lot of fun with this makeup, and I can't wait to try wearing it out now. I'm definitely going to try this method with other shades too, it's too pretty. I have to make sure to prime my lids well because they get oily over time. And Jeffree's lipstick smudges easily with oils. I already saw bits of green liner smudging when I was done too. Oh and it's important to wait for the lipstick to dry before opening your eyes! XD
Overall, I dig this. It's so fun and pretty <3 Though you'll have to wash your brushes regularly to avoid spoiling it because the lipstick hardens on the bristles when it dries. Don't think that's very good for brushes.
Really loving it! It seems my lipstick looks better on white.
Hey hey hey!!!!
IT’S MASK TIME AGAINNNNNN.
The stress from work calls for a pampering session x_x Today I’ve decided to use facial scrub as I haven’t been exfoliating my skin for almost 2 weeks now, I could see lil nasties building up on my nose. Although my skin condition isn’t very bad, but le nose has always been a more problematic area for me. They tend to get whiteheads and over the months the pores has widen too, and I’m not really sure why.
Anyway, as you know, the volcanic clay scrub works wonders, my skin feels really clean and soft after using it. As I still have a few packs of belif samples lying around, I’ve decided to try out the mask sample:D
And here it is, the Peat miracle revital mask!
Initially, I’ve always assumed that it is a cloth mask enclosed within the sample packaging. But it turns out to be something else.
So I guess peat land is a clay land hehe Thank goodness for buying the mask applicator from Innisfree!!!
Since it’s a clay mask, it was fairly easy to apply given the experience I’ve had with the volcanic clay mask *wink wink*
Das rite. Imma pro nao >:D
The sample packaging holds 5ml of product, which is just nice to cover my face:D The mask has a herbal scent to it too, which made me think of medicinal smell again, but in a good way. Like chinese medicine that is soothing and calming.
I left the mask on for about close to 20mins. I didn’t really time, but I washed it off after the mask is dried to touch. I could feel a tightening sensation as well which is really nice.
After washing it off I felt quite refreshed and hydrated ^_^ I also felt my skin a little bit tighter too, when I run my fingers on my cheeks I could feel the firmness. My skin felt really really good! Soft and firm, and clean hehe
And I finished my routine with a moisturiser and dark eye corrector!
So far, I’ve come to realise that belif have many products that uses herbs as their skincare routine. I find that it gives off a healthy vibe and I’m also very keen to the medicinal smell from a lot of their products. It feels safe because it felt like it is dermatogically prescribed and that equates to being good to you. I know this is a baseless opinion but that’s what I feel so heh. Furthermore, it has given me positive results to my skin, except the whitening cream which was too heavy, so it really enforces its quality more.
I still have no idea how much they cost, but I’m sure I will once my stuffs runs low and I need to refill and I start to consider other options/brands >:D Just really hoping they wouldn’t cost a bomb xD
Hello I’m still alive :D Haven’t had the time and energy to find new content as I’ve been really busy at work. But I’m enjoying it pretty much so I can’t sulk about it :p
Anyway I’ve been really lazy to put make up too as I’d rather exchange that extra time for more sleep xD So I haven’t been able to do anything beauty related hahaha
However I have been planning to do a test on this free gift which I got from innisfree during the mini haul my sis and I did about 3 weeks ago xD So I’m looking forward to try it when I can! I hope I can do this before this month ends hehe
Here a pic of it for now!
Last night we girls had some make over fun time xD I know it’s not great and my top is distracting but hey :3 We just wanted to play around with make up and have like a “vogue” photoshoot hahahhaha We took this pic after my sis was done. She wanted to try makeup on me and I’ll say she have a pretty good visual concept!
It all started when I tried to help my sis with makeup because she wanted to learn. So we watched a few tutorials based on her eye shape and see how we can make her eye look nicer. We did this a few times before but it didn’t work out because I was still quite noob xD Am glad to say it is successful this time, because she looked really nice and it's as if she's all grown up T_T
I used my trusty The Balm Nude Tude palette^_^ Where I used sultry as a base and Sleek to shade the corners of her eyes to give the illusion of longer eyes. With monolids, it is advisable to shade the outer and inner corner of the eyes for a longer eye look. On the center of the lid, you add a slightly lighter shade to make the eyes look bigger and brighter. I then noticed my sis suits orange tones, which snooby is a great shade.
I also added the shimmer shade on the bottom lid for a more awake look. Even though it is not obvious but it did make a small difference. Then I contour her cheeks slightly and highlight too.
To me the biggest difference in the way my sis looks is when I put on mascara for her. Her eyes instantly opens up and look more “alive”. I’m so excited about it T_T It’s finally working!!!
Oh and gurl, colourpop’s highlighter WORKS. MY GAWD. When I took the final look of my sis? HER CHEEKS WERE BLINDING. MM MM. Money well spent indeed.
P.s. I can’t show any progress cause this genius didn’t document it x_x BUT. I Do have the final pic and I have to crop it cause mah sis is camera shy.
CAN U SEE THE HIGHLIGHTER WERKING OMG. This is life.
And the eye makeup suits her well, but I think the next time I’ll try to blend it better. I’M SO PROUD.
I just finished my old bottle of SkinFood Rose Shake Point Makeup remover and I'm replacing it with my new Banila Co. Clean it Zero Purity!
I've previously used the original Clean it Zero, and it works great for me. I love how you can emulsify the product when you wash your face after massaging it to remove the make up. And your face feels clean and subtly oily after. You are supposed to wash your face with a cleanser after still.
I have the purity version with me this time because it was a gift! Purity is the same formula but tweaked to suit sensitive skin (with the addition of hypoallergenic formulation), which was why this product was chosen for me. ^_^
When you open the box, it comes with a protective lid and a scoop. Which I really like because it makes it sterile when you try to take out some to remove make up. I guess at the same time it helps block out moisture, since water activates the emulfier in the cream. They also comes with a magnetic strip to certify the product's authenticity which I find very entertaining. When you run a magnetic strip (comes in the bos too) over the label, you see a line moving around.
When I apply the cream on, I also caught a whiff of citrus scent, which is enjoyable for me because I'm a big fan of citrus <3 I find it cool how it turns from a solid white paste to thick transparent serum consistency too, when you rub it in between your hands. Maybe the heat from my hands melts it? This helps to loosen the cream to make application smoother for removing makeup.
It doesn't sting the eyes or irritate them. It feels exactly the same as the original version too. I forgot how nice this product is too haha My skin feels really clean thoroughly and my makeup could be removed easily. I still enjoy the subtle oiliness after you washed off the product.
The big tub should be able to last me for more than a year. Good thing for me!
Obligatory pic of newly opened tub of Clean it Zero.
New week, new mask!
And on today's menu: Canola Honey~
Isn't canola the common cooking oil? I never really expected them to be super good because it's common, so I'm curious to see what benefits canola honey have!
Based on the website:
A capsule recipe pack containing canola honey to moisturise your skin
1. Canola honey hydrates your skin to give you dewy skin during the winter.
2. The enriched pack adheres to the skin to provide a solution for skin concerns.
3. Wash-off formula
Okay not bad not bad.. Moosturing benefits is good. So I guess it's really just honey inside? Then it might be a little pricey.. x_x I also got this in the store for $4, you can get it cheaper here.
The consistency, colour and smell is just like honey, so I guess it is just honey then! I didn't dare to try it though hahahahah
Also, this time I've decided to use the mask brush for application and a little actually goes a long way.. One capsule might be able to apply 3 - 4 times. Makes me feel like I've wasted my seaweed one T_T
The mask did moisturised my skin well, it feels soft and like baby skin :3 And it smells really nice too which is very calming for me and soothing. Not to mention delicious though I'm too chicken to lick it. When I was washing them off, I accidentally tasted the mask and it's sweet though sooooo I still can't tell whether it is 100% honey or not.. I'm secretly hoping not because otherwise it's quite a rip off.. Heh
I still like the seaweed one! :p
It's mask day again and we used the Innisfree mask that my sis got as a gift during her purchase the last time.
Based on the website, Freshly Squeezed Mask Green Tea has soothing and moisturizing effects of green tea extracts; contains Jeju green complex that consists of green tea, tangerine, white lotus, camelia, and orchid and it is made of a three-layered sheet for longer moisturizing and great adherence.
Hmm, it sounds really good and I'm curious about the 3 layered mask. Does that mean that there is 3 masks inside or something D: Doesn't sound possible since the packaging looks really thin haha It's probably a mask made of a thicker material then.
When I opened it up, the green tea serum is overloading the mask. I had to carefully take out the mask to avoid sort of spilling the excess mask solution out x_x And surprise surprise~ It's only one mask with a thick material xD
The mask also had a cooling sensation when we wore it for 10minutes which makes me wanna sleep xD It feels really nice. One thing I don't really like about the mask is that it leaves my face very sticky because there is so much solution it just dries off there. I couldn't take it and rinsed off the excess.
It did feel a lot nicer after washing it off haha I can feel my skin very cooling and moisturised. I got lazy to finish up my routine so I just went to bed after hahahaha
It's not bad. Not my fav though, I'll probably use something else if I have a choice heh
I did it. It's done now. THERE'S NO TURNING BACK.
I've made the decision and now I'm officially using Even Better Eyes Dark Circles Corrector xD
And yes, I bought them with my vouchers and I'm starting to think this may be worth it after all. If they are gonna help me fix my dark circles, $70 for 6mths is pretty good!
And if I use sparingly enough, I can use it up to 7 mths maybe?
When I opened the packaging it comes with the product itself and a manual leaflet. Seeing the metal tip up close now is pretty fascinating. The metal tip serves as a massager when applying the cream, which I'm quite excited about hehe Since I've been using my fingers for awhile now, it'll be nice to feel the cooling metal around the eye area. I imagined that would be really naise :3 I'm thinking if I should keep it in the fridge too.. Then it'll be super cooling xD
I hope my dark circles will continue to improve and by a few months they will be light enough to be leas distracting. I also realised it's 10ml and not 15ml, sooo it was a little smaller than I hope to remember. Heh.
Welp, I've already bought it so might as well just indulge on it now xD
It's been 2 weeks since I started using the sample packs! I'm on my 2nd pack out of 3 now.
So far I really like the whitening products, they making my skin feel good yassss Like a soft bby skin and glowy. Especially the serum, I think it's really suitable for me. However I do find the cream a little too thick, so I'm having mixed feelings about them. It smells nice but somehow my skin finds it hard to absorb it completely. The cleansing foam is really goodddd. It cleans off the make up remover oil better than my other soap hehe I also really like the exfoliating agent inside, I can use it to scrub off nasties off mah face xD
I also did see my skin getting a little fairer and lighter, they also feels to be in a better condition too. They don't feel as oily now, which is a good sign as it meant that my skin is moisturised^_^
I've yet check how much the actual product is too. I hope they don't cost a bomb because I'll wanna get their serum!!
After I finished using the whitening line, I still have a mask and this baby soft skin cream to try out :D
Till then ^_^
Today I'm trying out Innisfree's seaweed capsule recipe pack wash off mask! It is one of the items my sis got during our trip to Innisfree last weekend. This capsule costs $4 but you can get it cheaper here .
From the website:
The seaweed mask is a capsule recipe pack containing seaweed to improve your complexion
1. Heat your skin naturally with seaweed!
2. Exfoliate dead skin cells for clean skin.
3. Enriched sizzling formation provides skin solutions.
4. A massage pack containing seaweed to heat and exfoliate your skin
The mask was kept in the fridge first because we like cold masks! The texture of the mask is something like honey when you kept it in the fridge. It's quite thick but very gel like. It smells like green tea too, and a little like kelp. It's really delicious XD
After applying on the skin it did gradually feel warmer, which is very soothing. For a moment I thought it would be a peel off skin too because under the reflection it looks plasticky haha
After 10 minutes I also massaged the mask on my face to try to simulate the exfoliating effects before washing off. The smell came back and I can't help but keep thinking about how delicious it is *-* I really like the smell since it smells like food hahaha
My skin feels really smooth and clean after washing it off, and I could see my skin looking brighter it's so weird! I let my skin settle for awhile before applying the rest of my skincare routine.
I think for $4 it's not bad. It's worth the money for an indulgence once in awhile! I'll probably get this again when I can! ^_^
It's so fun to try out all these stuffs too and I'm glad they are priced reasonably so I won't feel so heart pain too.. One of the risks I did thought about is whether my skin might get too irritated for switching products so quickly.
So far it is not a problem, though I think I should avoid using the whitening cream from Belif as it's a little thick for me. My skin felt like they couldn't breathe and it would have a little but of reaction after.. So yeah): Just a little concerned T_T Hopefully it'll improve after I stop using the cream!
So! It's been about 2-3 weeks since I started using the sample from Clinique! So far I've been seeing pretty good results though subtly.
I have noticed my dark circles being slightly lighter now. And on top of that, as I have been sleeping earlier due to work, so I guess that is part of the contributing factor too. Either way, I'm really glad that my dark circles are improving and making me look more alive haha!
Also I'm very keen on getting the even better eyes now. I don't think I'll wait any longer since it's working so well. I'll still test out Aesop's sample too! Unfortunately I didn't do much research about Dr Wu's eye serum as I got lazy (opps) But to be honest though. I wasn't very keen on considering it after awhile due to the fact that it feels the least moisturising compared to the other 2 brands.
On top of that, I just need to top up $10 for the most ideal option. So yeah.
I hope the photos can do justice to the difference.. I'm not very good at taking clear photos up close cause.. my phone can't really do that.
Today I tried the mask that my sis bought from Innisfree! Right off the bat it has been a great experience to try the products and I was very pleasantly surprised at how smooth and nice my skin feels *-*
I know almost everything I've tried so far have always been super positive and I always say that would be my go to now. But truly, every time when I try something I was recommended, they are really good so I can't help it! I do think that it's good that these products shows promising signs and positive effects. I wouldn't mind switching things up once in awhile too! Because I believe your skin gradually gets used to a formula over time and something it might stop getting the positive effects by that time. So by switching things up once in awhile, it may still give the targeted benefits you want for your skin.
In fact, I have always been using Skin Food products. But over the last 4 - 5 months I have stopped seeing the beneficial results. I have been thinking of changing to another brand but I've yet found one. So I've been looking around.
Anyway, back to the point. Today I'm trying out 3 things!
1. Jeju Volcanic Pore Srub Foam
2. Silicon exfoliating brush
3. Super volcanic pore clay mask
Jeju Volcanic Pore Scrub
The scrub smells really nice, and it is very dense. The interesting thing is that when I used the exfoliating brush, it helps foam the scrub which sort of activates it and it becomes very light and fluffy!
I only scrub my problematic area as I wanna try it out first.
This thing is so cute and currently it is selling at $2 per pair! Which is just nice as my sis and I can each have one. The purpose of this product is to assist in better exfoliation on the skin to cleanse the pore more thoroughly.
The brush side helps with foaming the scrub and massaging the product into the skin and cleaning things out. You have to brush in a circulat motion around. The scrub side is meant to do a more thorough scrub and also to push the shit out after cleansing, so you're supposed to scrub in an up and down motion.
it feels really nice on the skin and not rough at all. I was worried a bit at first as my skin was red, though I wasn't sure if it was from the foam or using the brush too hard. But all is okay, my skin was normal when I washed it off.
I'm really amazed at how clean my pores are omg. For the past few months my pores have gotten bigger and it have shit stuck inside. But after the scrub my nose area looks clear again, without tiny grey spots scattered around. And my skin feels really really smooth and soft *_* IT'S AMAZING.
I hope the pics can do justice cause it looked like there's no difference ):
After scrubbing we tried the volcanic pore mask!
It's a very thick consistency and we needed a spatula to spread it. Thank goodness we bought one too, which is $2 too. Seriously, are Innisfree stuffs always so cheap?! Like it feels too good to be true hahahha
Like a normal mask you leave it on for 10minutes before washing it off. My skin feels really smooth and clean I was so excited about it xD
Afterwards I applied my belief samples serum and cream as well as the dark circle eye corrector ^_^
Overall it was a really nice experience. I'll definitely going to drop by and check them out when I have time!
Today I went shopping with my sis and she told me she wanted to check out Innisfree! She was keen on trying out their volcano mask cleanser or something as she'd found online that the product is great at tackling oily skin and pore problems.
When we got there I was really surprised at the prices! The products range between $10 - $25 on average, except anti aging products which ranges from $30 - $50.
I've always thought Innisfree is an expensive brand mainly because of the way it is marketed. If I had known they are so affordable I would have tried them so long ago T_T And if they are as good as what my sis says, I wouldn't mind coming back to buy something for myself next time!
The line of products they have looks really good too so I hope to check it out soon!
I've been really busy these few days as I've just started work!
Also on top of that I'm still trying out the samples I've mentioned so it's hard to do any updates as it'll be easier to make a comparison of a before and after with a longer duration of testing. Which, will be coming next week!
In the meantime it's definitely gonna be quite quiet for now because my work is going to take up most of my schedules.
ANYWAY. I do have something to share, it's not necessarily beauty related. But I kinda wanna write abt it so here goes.
I bought these lovelies today at Tokyu Hands because they were so adorable and cheap!!! Basically, these stamps reacts to heat the same way those "eraserable pen ink" work. They are $1.80 each so I thought of getting a few to use for my memos and note taking. It's just so cute.
So the point of me sharing abt it is that because Tokyu Hands are charging $3 for the box. And I'm just like, hell no.
So being me, I've decided make one myself >:D
So first things first! I drew out the plan on how I want the box to be. I designed it based on a basic box container layout.
After cutting the shapes out, I tested its fitting with the stamps to make sure all is good.
I find the carboard a little ugly with the stains so I used duct tape as a skin. It's more presentable that way and the plastic exterior can help the stamps slide in easier.
Then I score side to help the glue stick better. I glue the pieces down onto the Tokyu Hands paper bag which I got from the purchase. I thought it'll be a nice touch integrating where I got it from. Not bad eh? eh? When the glue dries I slowly wrap the paper present-and-book-binding style so they can help hold everything together.
I was concerned with using only glue to support the whole box as it didn't seem practical. So I figured maybe by using the paper's body it might give it more support and durability.
It turns out a lot better than I expected. I was planning to make a cover for it too but I think it's not necessary. The box is a snug fit so I think the stamps will be very secured inside. Really happy with the outcome! I'm really impressed that I mamaged to make this in 45mins too! That's a great improvement and it made me feel like my experience have paid off.
I also can't wait to use it soon!
I'll try to update soon with more beauty stuffs.
I got more samples to try!! My aunt got a few packs of belif samples from their roadshow that she didn't wanna use so she passed it to me.
Belif is a pretty good brand so I'm excited to try it out! I don't know much abt their background but I know they use plant extracts and herbal stuffs to improve the skin. So all these good stuffs to me, equates to good quality :p hahaha
I have been looking at what does each sample do and they're all related to skincare and keeping the skin hydrated and soft. The first few items that I wanna try first is their basic skincare routine - cleansing soap, essence and cream. I'll talk abt the other items next time!
They all have brightening/ whitening benefits and uses some herbal ingredients which will help whiten the skin over time.
The facial cleanser had some exfoliating agent inside, and it smells really nice. It doesn't smell like fragrance at all, but more of a herbal scent. It reminded me of some spice-like essential oil.
It cleans very thoroughly and my skin feels soft after^_^
The essence is a very loose liquid, and it has some shimmery powder inside. Making it look like some magic potion >:D Maybe that is the whitening ingredient? When applying it on it feels really nice and has a nice smell. Though I would say it is more of a medicated smell, not the same scent as the cleanser. It gets absorbed very easily and leaves my skin really smooth :3 Me likey it very much haha
The cream is much thicker, though more of a serum like consistency. It also has the herbal scent and gets absorbed easily. No sticky feeling at all.
So far I've only used them for a few days so it'll be tough to see if the whitening effect works. I'll update in a few more weeks maybe? I have like 3 packs of each so it'll last for awhile!
Yay! So I've finally managed to make my posts beauty focused. It's probably the most tedious and effective thing I've done in awhile but I think it's worth it.
Basically, I've tried to filter out only the beauty posts but somehow it wasn't working properly. So I had to COPY & PASTE each post to a new page so that they will be filtered out completely.
Took me a few hours but I'm glad it's done x_x I really should have done this ages ago.
Today I tested out Watsons' Collagen moist Gel Cream! My sis bought some items yesterday and received this sample from the cashier counter at Watsons.
We both feel like this gel is a little questionable in terms of quality. Since it's not from a trusted brand we know of, so we don't really want to try it on our face haha So I'm gonna test it out on my hand first to see how it is.
Based on the packaging, this hydrating gel is the Korean skincare secret to getting the skin look moostursed and not oily. So let's see how well it does its job!
The gel itself reminded me of aloe vera gel. It's transparent and slightly thick. It's quite easily absorbed and it leaves a slightly tacky feeling after it dries. I don't really like that but it goes away after. My skin didn't feel hydrated instantly and don't really see any changes on my skin yet too.
Though after about 30mins it feels a little softer but that's about it. The gel itself okay for temporary use I guess, but I really don't think there are any benefits in it as of now haha
I'm planning to make some minor changes to my blog. I noticed I've been really enjoying writing about beauty products and the increase in readership ever since is encouraging me to write more too. So I thought maybe I could try making my posts more beauty focused. That way it'll make it easier to navigate through my other posts about random things in my life.
Thank you to anyone who've been reading up I hope the information have been somewhat helpful!
Today I went shopping to look for some remedies for my worsening dark circles. (I know, the first big remedy is SLEEP. But since that's not really possible since I'm always sleeping late. Let's just assume that's not an option.)
Since I have some credits I can use away, I thought I could go to the department store to find some brands which I like and look for some samples.
I've always liked Clinique's Pep Start eye cream ever since I tried their sample. But it's quite expensive (SGD 50 for I think 15ml) so I never considered getting it. After some looking up, I realised it's not really suitable for my situation right now either, since the cream is meant to tighten, hydrate and brighten the under eyes as a quick remedy for a busy lifestyle, and not so much of a long term remedy to fixing dark circle issues.
So I approached the staff at the store and asked for some advise. She introduced me to 2 eyes creams.
The first being RepairWear Anti-Gravity Eye Cream(SGD $60). It's a pink gel that is supposed to tackle fine lines and brighten the under eyes. I'll quote from the website:
"Densely hydrating cream helps lift up, firm up around the eyes. Helps erase the look of fine lines and builds cushion into time-thinned skin. Even the first application creates a cushiony feel and a brighter look. That's just the beginning."
So that sounds pretty good. It's very light too and could be absorbed easily. It have some shimmery dust inside too which was supposed to help with the brightening effect. Another thing I learned is, apparently these eye creams are catered to be non-heavy so that it doesn't clog the skin at the area which is actually very delicate. The more you know huh.
The other one I got to try is called Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector (SGD $70). Now this is more concentrated on helping with dark circle issues.
"Benefits Hydrates and Brightens. Lightweight eye cream is clinically proven to visibly lighten dark circles by 30% in 12 weeks. Instantly brightens all skin tones. Ophthalmologist tested. Cooling metal tip helps massage away puffs."
It is more cream based but still very light. The product is also skin toned for some reasons, though it is not like a concealer of sorts. It's much nicer than the RepairWear. A bonus point for me too is the meal tip, which acts as a massager to help with better absorption. I was more keen to this one as I could feel my skin hydrated very quickly. However it's really expensive (70 bucks omg) so I was contemplating if it'll be worth it. I know, technically it's free since I'm redeeming credits for it but what if I wanna buy again? Will I be able to afford it?
In the end I asked for a sample to test it out first. Hoping it'll be my holy grail for dark circles. Oh did I mention, the staff is a little judgemental too haha When I asked for a sample she reacted like I've exploited her like an aunty trying to be cheapskate ): She even tried to explain to me that she can't give me much cause it's expensive. And I'm like "Err it's fine, I don't need a lot. I really just want to test it out." x_x It was quite awks. Well at least I got it anyway, and get to test it.
Btw my journey doesn't end here >:D I went on to test out 2 more brands.
The next brand I tried out was from Aesop. They are known for using plant extracts in their products. I've always thought they only focus on bath and body products but apparently not! I'm glad they have this eye serum in the product line. The staff was very informative and helpful regarding my concerns with my dark circles.
The Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Eye Serum is sort of like an oil extract, so it is very potent. It is recommended to only use a drop for both eyes. When I tried it I can't even finish one drop XD Anyway, as it is very concentrated, you are advised to keep massaging the serum until it is fully absorbed into the skin. If not it will leave an oily residue on the skin which might clog the pores.
"This concentrated, vitamin-rich serum delivers targeted hydration and nourishment to the delicate skin surrounding the eyes. Abundant in anti-oxidants and fatty acids, it possesses exceptional protective benefits."
It instantly makes my eyes feel very refreshed and relaxed. Somehow the serum took away the fatigue on my eyes too. And the guy in the store said it could also be used anytime in the day when you need some refreshment or a break for the eyes. It's really good but it's really expensive.. A small bottle for SGD 106. So.. yeah. However he did mention that the small bottle can last up to 6 months, so in a way it's worth it too. I got a sample pack to test it out and see if it is working to the way I want it and before I come back again.
The last brand I looked for is Dr Wu. It's a Taiwanese based brand that I was introduced to by a relative. The products are dermatologically certified so they are definitely safe for use. I was keen of it so I wanted to take a look at them. So far they are the cheapest, priced at SGD 59.90 each.
The sales person seemed really inexperienced to me. She couldn't give me more information about the product that was't already written on the packaging itself. I just find it a little pointless as a result because what's the point of having someone assisting you if all they do is read off the packaging. It's the same concept as reading off the slides. But anyway.
I was recommended the orange first. It's a serum that is formulated to brighten the eyes and fight dark circles and fine lines. The vitamin C will assist in reducing dark circles, as how I've found out too through my research. It is easily absorbed, and very lightweight. No scent too and it feels very nice.
"Brightening Eye Serum With Vitamin C+ is formulated with several patented technologies that dramatically improves skin elasticity and firmness and help reduce the appearance of serious dark circles, puffiness and under-eye bags."
The second one, which is more of a hydrating serum, is recommended to me as the staff see that my eye area is quite dry, which she concluded led to my dark circles. I don't really know if that is just her trying to hard sell me or not, but okay. I kinda prefer the orange one just because it is targeted at resolving dark circles. The hydrating serum is just okay. It does feels kinda hydrating, but also it's really not what I'm looking for.
"Advanced Hydrating Eye Cream is formulated with several patented technologies which dramatically improve skin elasticity and nourish the delicate skin around the eyes. Its main ingredient 5th generation HyaluComplex, which attracts, retains and creates hydration and moisture all through skin layers."
I was hoping to find out more about the product but I can't as the sales person isn't very detailed about what it does.. I'll have to do more research and review comparison I guess.
After testing the different serums on my hand, I could feel the differences of each. I compared the effects based on the softness of my skin and smoothness to determine if it is working or not. I know it's not exactly an accurate test but based on feel, I think it could be a good indicator? Haha And currently, Even Better Eye serum is in the lead.
I'm not gonna get it right away though. I think I should test out the samples first, and observe its effects. I should probably look up more reviews too to compare these few brands. I think I can safely consider between Clinique and Dr Wu too as they are my most ideal options now. As much as I love Aesop, it is too expensive for me T_T
During the wee hours I've decided to wear a mask. Not really to pamper myself, but just to use it off before it expires hahahaha Welp.. After all I did have too much skincare products because of a shopping spree last year in KL where me and my sis spent too much and got too much freebies.
Anyway, this mask was a freebie/gift which we got from guardian. It was about $2 per mask, and that time we had about 5 if I remember correctly. This was the last piece left. Not sure why we've decided to stop wearing the mask and leave this lonesome one unused for almost a year now lols. Fret now, this mask expires in 2019, so it is still safe to use (Y)
This mask is a root water mask, extracted essence of different beneficial root herbs and so on. Supposed to moisturise your skin and keep them soft and baby smooth. And apparently recommended to be used daily. (haha I see what you did there guardian, making people buy more so you can earn money! But $2 for daily use is too much boo, so no. XD)
When I opened it, I was quite amused. I didn't think the mask will be black, though I should have because the packaging is black. And need I mention I look like I'm wearing a burglar mask with the black sheet mask XD So funny. You're supposed to wear the mask on for 10-15mins, I wore it for about 13mins. A good indicator to know when it's time to remove the mask is to listen to your skin. At the 12 minute mark I could feel my skin like it couldn't absorb anymore of the essence and that's when I took it off. So you don't have to exactly remove your mask by 10minutes or 15, it is meant as a guideline. Listen to how your skin reacts and remove it when you know it's right.
Also, to enhance your experience of wearing a mask, always chill it in the fridge first. I don't really know any benefits for it, but I do enjoy the coldness of the mask on my face. It's a very indulging feeling where you lie on your bed with your face cold for 10minutes, it's amazing.
After I removed the mask, I patted the excess into my skin and wiped off any excess with my hands and spread it to my neck instead. One thing I don't really enjoy is that it leaves a sticky feeling after it dries. To me that kinda also meant the mask is of lower quality, because higher quality products always never have this issue. But I mean it is a free mask, so no complaints, but that FYI, ya know.
To counter this feeling I sometimes hide in an air conditioned room, not sure why it works, but somehow cold and dry air reduces the stickiness on your skin.
I don't really feel that my skin is moisturised, but I did feel refreshed afterwards. Glad I didn't waste my mask and I get to have better skin (sorta) too! After all, I haven't been taking care of myself very well, which have affected my decisions in life which is regrettable.. But this have helped me a little so that's great!
Also my lips have been cracking quite badly recently.. Time to drink more water T_T
