I'm just gonna say this. I won't be updating with any new things until the end of the month as I'm getting pretty occupied with work. It's going to get a little crazy because I'll have to race against time to get things done. The recent holiday break have also cut short my time to work so I'll have to find a way to make up for it.
Am hoping for the best still, getting the things I need in time, making sure I don't mess up!!! I'm really nervous about the upcoming shoot so I'm going to give all my attention to it.
In the meantime, I've been thinking about what to do for the next few posts, possibly a couple product reviews (I got a gift recently) I'm definitely looking forward to try the gifted product >:D Am quite curious if it works (hint hint). We'll see how it goes XD
So today when I was getting ready I find my look a bit extreme so I wanted to wear a bold lip to go with it. But my go to lip colours nowadays are light pinks so I started looking through and I found my sweet Urban Decay Blackmail. I tried it on and I feel like I’m ready for the kill xD However I decided not to wear it out because the lipstick is really old and I’m going to have lunch. Didn’t really like the idea of eating with a really old lipstick on.
Turns out drip suits the look really well too. I look like a bad ass chic, trying to be casual but is subtly glam. Lols Happy day today!
The eye makeup:
Funny thing is, when I went overboard with the look today, I messed up xD That was the reason why I used the Q-tip to clean up, and at the same time I tried the dramatic cat eye shadow look and luckily it worked.
Update: I know, still haven't found a better way to document. Be patient!
Yayyy today was a pretty successful look. I don’t know why but I feel that today showed the improvement I’ve had with makeup! It’s cute for a Valentine’s look too.
I won’t post the products I use this time. Since it’s pretty much the same! I’m planning to be more detailed in my process so I’ll try to find a way to do it. I always forget to document as I’m already rushing off hahaha
Today I feel fabulous /swish
This morning I feel refreshed for getting enough sleep for once since busy time at work. And I was in the mood to doll myself up!
AND ALSO I JUST FOUND OUT MY FRICK & FRACK IS MISSING. God knows how long has it been gone T_T It’s so weird, I must have left it in one my my bags. I need to find it cause that shade is really pretty and I barely used it.
I do feel like a powerful executive realness. A mama who is ready to work and then go home to care for her 2 year old & 5 mths old. Mama is effective, efficient and a lady boss. On top of her game and nobody’s gonna bring her down - even herself. She’s got it all together, and she is going to wear her blazer to rush for another meeting to secure another deal.
Actually I’m just gonna go Ikea but that works too HAHA
It's been awhile since I wore a cat liner look too. I think I prefer without it. But I still look fly hehe Also, I know I always go back and forth on pretty much the same colours. I'm still not confident with my skills to wear super fun eye colours yet, so it's pretty much nudes now):
The make up:
Despite the stress from work recently, and the occasional breakdowns, I’m enjoying this short moment where my skin feels a lot better than normal days. Not to mention that my pimple scar has finally healed and faded(: So just a little sharing session today.
This made me feel better after going through some chaos from work. Sourcing for props is a nightmare sometimes. And I still do it because either I am crazy or I love it. I’m still struggling to find a balance for it, I hope to get there soon haha
The line I got from it is NOT what I intended T_T
A little background, I saw a video last year about training your eyes to make a fold the way you want. All you have to do is to wear eyelid tape every single day for at least 3 months. I've been doing this for almost a year, probably 8 months close to 9. Cause my eyes are friggin stubborn and sometimes I forget to paste for a day and that will "reset" things a little. So yeah.
I am pretty amused that it actually works, because by the 6th month I stopped caring if it'll really work and just pasted it on as a habit. Even though the line didn't turn out exactly as the position I wanted (honestly I don't even know how this happened. I paste on the same goddamn position every time and my eye looks the way I want it) I actually like the new line. It made my eye look bigger and I somehow look better. Problem is, my eyes now look asymmetrical in a different way (ugh) - My natural double eyelid eye looks smaller =_= And it'll be more challenging to train a new line there because my natural fold starts from my inner corner eye. It'll still fold to the natural line when I used eyelid tape. Just. great.
For now I'm just embracing my double eyelid eyes, as much as they still look different lols Applying makeup has been a tad bit different too, so there's some adjusting for me on that as well.
I still have like 5 packs of eyelid tape left, so maybe I can do something about these lines after all. I will experiment a bit to see how I can train my other eye. I just hope that by the end of another bloody 8 mths, I won't end up with a line I DIDN'T INTEND AGAIN. BY THEN I WILL BE DONE FOR GOOD. I'LL GO FUCK THIS LOL
I’m so bummed and sad about this): Everyone, meet my favourite necklace and one of my favourite pendants..
I was trying on some clothes today when I saw something fell and broke. It was to my horror that the little broken thing was my aquamarine pendant. I must have gotten my necklace caught in the clothes & tugged too hard.. I don’t know. I’m really sad about it because SO gifted the necklace to me and it’s from Iceland. And the pendant has helped me cope w my nerves talking to people - I really like crystals and I do believe they help you. Maybe it’s placebo but it worked for me.
Anyway, I’m planning to get a new necklace with a stronger chain. This necklace was designed with box chain which is supposed to be sturdy, but I guess this bitch proved it wrong. Imma get something stronger than that xD
Sigh.. I’m going to take it as my special pendant have served it’s purpose and maybe I don’t need it anymore.. Though honestly I have grown to be dependent on it to help me through the day): We’ll see if I can get again somewhere - buying from the same shop will get me broke T_T this baby was quite pricey. Imagine my heartache when I realised it broke.
Till thenn ):
I’m soooooo satisfied with my clean nails now!! I’ve been quite bothered by my cuticle as the dead skin started growing more.
I happen to have my own tools as well - got it a long time ago when I was curious about nail art. And I got down to business henny!
I used my favourite Kielh’s hand cream as a softener, and I soak my fingers in water for about 5mins. Then I use my metal cuticle pusher to lift the dead skin up. Then I use the cuticle cutter to trim the excess dead skin away. It is quite a relaxing process as I get to see my cuticle become neater & in a better condition. I find it satisfying to cut away the dead tough skin around my nail too.
I saved money not going to the nail salon!!! Hehe
Also, I’ve been trying to post every 2 days to make sure I keep my commitment that I set for myself. It is tough trying to think of content but I am glad I’m doing pretty well so far! In the coming week I will be filming so I probably won’t have time to update. But I’ll think of a way to make up for it!
It’s been awhileeeee!!
Not to mention SO haven’t tried a mask before so I took the opportunity:D
I got an Aloe Vera mask for SO to soothe the skin, as well as to ease into the idea of good skincare! This mask is also very moisturing. You can think of it as a healing pack! For extra comfort, it’s always best to refrigerate it first, so the aloe vera feels refreshing on the skin! After 15 mins, we washed it off and SO looked so refreshed and glowy, it was awesome ^_^
Where as for me, I got myself a Rose & Calamine wash off clay mask, just to try for fun!
This mask is a soothing concoction for an overly stimulated or irritated skin. This is perfect for I have been doing some wall painting recently so my skin have been rather irritated. It has pieces of rose petals inside and the smell is so relaxing. It has a tingling feeling when it was drying but nothing bad. I could feel my skin tightening as it dries. I had to wash it off after 10mins, and my skin felt alive again xD It seemed brighter too - I’m starting to think it’s probably a side effect for wearing masks but it’s so great - and firm. I feel like I’ll have a good sleep tonight! I can still smell the rose too!
Unsatisfied with my adventures, I bought a couple more faux septum rings to try out. This time I went to Lovisa to check it out. Damn they have so many fancies I had a hard time choosing. It’s a little pricey but not unreasonable.
I think I look better with a smaller ring but I can still tell it doesn’t suit me T_T Not gonna stop me from wearing though, I still like it.
I’ve been feeling a little down today, and I didn’t want to let it get in my way. So I decided to spend a little more time getting ready before heading out for the day. I didn’t have any plans today too so I have the time to me!
I’m really happy with the look, and I haven’t used Dopey in a long time so this was a really good time for her to shine <3 I also got a new shirt yesterday, and it fits with today’s look. And my eyebrows are on flick today! Really loving this shape, I’m gonna try to maintain this shape forever.
The make up:
I was also really distracted by how good the overall turned out, I forgot to put on mascara =.= Speaking of which, I really wonder when will this finish so I can finally try Heroine Make!!! /facepalms. I’m really curious how it’ll turn out.
This is a fake one. But recently I’ve been really curious about spetum piercings. I find it really pretty but I’m not sure if it suits me.
I bought some fake spring secured earrings to try it out. I don’t necessarily look great though, partly cause the ring was too big. I tried with a smaller one (I DIY with some ring looking things I could find) and it looked better?
I don’t know ): I kept watching videos of others with it and their septum rings collection. Maybe I can get some nicer faux ones and play with them again.
I was browsing through Reddit the other day and found someone recommending this mascara called Kiss Me Heroine Make - Long & Curl Mascara as a holy grail of mascaras. Many people in the comments also agreed about the product and I got interested to try it. The reddit post did not share a photo of the product, so I searched it up myself. To my surprise, I've been seeing this brand all my life and never tried it once! I felt really silly about the whole thing like I've been missing out.
I never paid attention to this brand before because it was sold in Drugstores and it's also a Japanese brand. Honestly no shade to them both, it's just that I rarely use Jap brands so I was skeptical whether the quality is good since it was also sold in Drugstores. Mostly ignorance on my part if you will.
I couldn't find the exact product. The closest I got was the same title, except it has "Advanced Film" for $15. After a little more reading, turns out the original formula was discontinued and relaunched with "Advanced Film". So I guess it is the same thing, just improved.
The packaging itself is very sweet and dainty. I like the Rose gold to Pink gradient on the cap and the sleek black body on the bottle. In general I'm not very used to the sweet look but doesn't matter. The formula is more important.
I read that it takes some time for the formula to dry so I'm a little concerned about that. I'm quite a clumsy person so I'm expecting some mess when I try this out. Let's see how much longer can my Revlon last before this has to take over haha
So just a quick update..
I've been having a minor break out recently around my forehead area. Am kinda bummed about it. I find myself getting pimples whenever I pluck my eyebrows. Maybe I haven't plucked it correctly, leaving my pores open and prone to infection.. Not sure how I can fix it but we'll see :/
Many people told me that I have good skin, but they don’t know this bugger here get zits too xD And it’s definitely an annoying thing nobody likes.
I’ve been seeing my sis use this Acne patch from Nexcare and it got me interested to try as well. Whenever I had a zit I’ll take one sticker from her pack to try it out. So over the past few months I’ve been using the patches on & off. And seeing how I’ve been using it more, I bought my own pack so I won’t be the asshole sibling who keeps taking her sis’s patches hahahahah
One of the most distinctive effect I noticed was how quickly my zit healed every time. Not to mention how satisfying it was to see the white gunk that’s been absorbed out of my pore. Some people find it gross but I’m the other kind who also find satisfaction watching pimple pop videos. Yum.
There are different types & brands of these acne patches but I find them to be the pretty much the same. They have some which are thinner for day use, so that it looks more invisible; some with bigger patches, etc. Some brands have medicated ones, which sounds pretty good. But I’ve never tried them.
I am only using NexCare, partly because I’m familiar with 3M products. I’m also not choosy about what type I got because I use it at home. They range from $5-$7, a little pricey but it’s worth it to me. The box (no pic cause I forgot) usually comes with a sterile sealed pack containing the acne patches and a plastic tweezer for u to pick out the product. I find using my fingers a lot easier to remove the patches though.
I did a little research to see how these works, turns out these acne patches are made from a hydrocolliod material. Meaning they are water-attracting material attached to a thin plastic film. Which is surprisingly cause I always thought it’s oil absorbing.
Some of the benefits of using acne patches are also found in this article:
Quite interesting stuffs I learn today. I really wouldn’t mind being reliant on these for my zits, they are really convenient haha
So I felt like dressing up today! Did a simple look to just feel a little pretty :3
Things I used:
I’m surprised how much a difference makes when I covered up my dark circles and just add some colour to my eyes. It made me look more awake and fresh. No wonder a lot of people are into the no make up look.
I must say too, I'm noticing the brightening effect from Cyber Colour's makeup base. I'm starting to like it and am trying to use it more often in my makeup routine.
Looking at myself made me realise the shift in my makeup "style". I love bold lip colours and used to go crazy with it. But now I prefer natural tones. In fact, the lesser I wear, the more contented I am with the way I look. Maybe the natural or subtle looks is my jam now haha The past me will probably be surprised at that.
Firstly, this post is waaaaaay overdue. I actually got my brushes in November last year, but I kept pushing off writing about it. Partly because I don’t really know what to talk about, then again it’s no excuse to be procrastinating hah.
Anywayyyyy. So I bought a set of brushes online when there was a sale going on (sorry I forgot what website). The brand is Zoreya and the brushes were made from synthetic fibres. The set I got was around $15 for 10 different brushes, which to me was a really good deal ($1.5 for each brush whaaaaa). I also bought a silicon brush cleaning pad as I’ve been looking for one; It was about $2.
I've been wanting to get more makeup brushes as I found myself needing more than one fluffy brush to do my eyes. I also have been wanting to try using a fan brush with my highlighter like most makeup artists do on videos haha Nothing says fancy the way that fan brush does you know what I mean hahahaha And this set I saw online had all the types of brushes I'm looking for, not to mention - again - at really affordable prices. Most of the reviews about the brushes are positive too so I decided to give it a shot. The set comes in the following, together with a pouch to keep them all inside:
Now, I don’t know if I got the proper terms for each brush right but at least I know what each can be used for :p
So far I’ve used everything except the foundation, mascara & lip liner brushes. Because I don't use foundation and I haven't found a need to use the mascara wand & lip liner yet. (Did I mention before I'm not a big fan of lip liners too)
The brushes are really soft and they work well most of the time. Sometimes the brushes have trouble picking product that I believe is cream based. The fan brush for example, usually have a tough time picking up Colorpop's highlighter (it is a powder & cream hybrid), and I’ll need to use a little force. There are times where I got so annoyed and switched to a contour brush. If I ever get a powder highlighter in the future, I will test this out again.
I’m still glad to have these brushes. I can swtich between dark & light shades very easily and blending is so much more convenient now. Can't complain about that~
The silicon pad is rather straightforward. It basically helps to remove product in your brushes or sponge easily when cleaning. Previously I wash my brushes & sponge by moving them in a circular motion on my palm. I mean it works, but I always felt that a little scrub action would ease my mind about getting out the more stubborn products in my tools. It's also $2 so why not haha
The different textures on the mat helps for cleaning different sizes - the closely packed one for smaller brushes and bigger spread out ones for bigger brushes.
I have used it twice so far. I haven't been putting on make up a lot recently so I didn't need to clean my brushes so often. I find using the silicone pad more convenient for cleaning, even though it adds an extra step of washing it after. The textures really help scrub out the stuffs and the foam from the soap makes cleaning a little more fun haha
In general these 2 items were a pretty good buy for me. They definitely improved my routine. Dare I say using the brushes made my make up look more polished too xD
Had a meeting today for work and I wanted to dress well for a good first impression. I think got a little carried away with my makeup but I still like it a lot.
This is also one of the few occasions where I tried a more glittery look. I would say a good opportunity to use my Maybelline The Blushed Nudes palette hahaha
My Skincare/prep routine:
Finished off with:
I think I could use a little less glitz in my inner corner, but other than that I really like this look. I might put some shine on my lower lash line more often too, it made my eyes look more awake and rested ^_^ I also find using proper brushes helped make application a lot faster and accurate. Which is awesomeeeeee.
One fine night I was in the mood to experiment with make up and this was the result.
Funny story - I actually started out with the colourful palette from Sleek Makeup because I wanted to practice and learn how to use bright colours and somehow ended with this dark look... /shrugs.
I quite like it as it’s dramatic and very foxy, it has a badass look to it. I also like how I managed to blend the lighter shades better now, it gave me a better understanding on how blending works to give a gradient effect.I admit there's still lots of improvement though.
My steps (sorry I didn’t document w pics):
I was thinking if this could be wearable and I still couldn't decide. I do think wearing specs helped making the look less ridiculous haha Maybe with more practice I will soon get a decent smokey eye look lols
I'm currently in love with the Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit Body Lotion I got from Kiehl's. I am a big fan of grapefruit scents and I love how soft my skin feels whenever I use this!
So far I'm using the lotion on my hands as a personal preference. It's amazing! The lotion's texture is creamy, and it doesn't leave a sticky feeling. You could however feel some oils (I'd like to think it's the essential oils) but nothing horrible. The oils get absorbed into the skin so it'll disappear eventually. If I'm not wrong the oils are the ones that helps with soft skin!
And the smell - very subtle and refreshing. I kept smelling my hands haha Makes me wanna savour every drop.
